DATA SECURITY & PROFESSIONAL DUTIES
Frequently asked questions
Straight answers on data security, professional duties, technology, and workflow - without marketing filler.
Data security & professional duties
- Where is my data processed?
All data processing takes place exclusively on our own server infrastructure in certified German data centres. Unlike many other providers, we do not use US cloud infrastructure (such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud) for text recognition or AI analysis. Germany is covered by the UK Government's Adequacy Regulations, meaning data transfers are lawful under UK GDPR. We provide a Data Processing Agreement (DPA) aligned with Article 28 UK GDPR.
- Is LexLogik compliant with the SRA Code of Conduct and UK confidentiality standards?
LexLogik is designed to support solicitors’ confidentiality obligations in practice, including Legal Professional Privilege (LPP) and the duty of confidentiality. We provide a Data Processing Agreement (DPA) aligned with UK GDPR processor expectations and documented technical and organisational measures so your firm can evidence due diligence when engaging us as a supplier. Meeting the SRA Standards and Regulations remains your firm’s responsibility - we assist with contracts and architecture; we do not guarantee compliance with the entire Code on your behalf.
- Is my data used to train AI models?
No. We follow a strict zero-training policy. Your documents and any insights derived from them are never used to train or improve general AI models. Your data remains yours and is used only for your specific processing job.
- What happens to documents after processing - and how does that fit SRA file-retention duties?
We apply strict data minimisation. Immediately after text extraction is complete and the download is available, all uploaded source files and generated results are permanently deleted from our servers (zero-retention policy). Your file-retention obligations under the SRA Standards and Regulations and your firm’s engagement letter are unaffected: the authoritative client file lives in your case management or document management system (e.g. Clio, LEAP, Actionstep, iManage, NetDocuments), not in LexLogik.
Precision & technology
- How does LexLogik ensure text recognition accuracy?
Conventional OCR programmes often rely on a single engine that is error-prone with complex legal character sequences. LexLogik uses a three-stage validation: two independently trained OCR systems capture the text in parallel. In the final stage, an AI trained by us performs a logic check to verify reference chains, amounts and legal syntax for plausibility.
- How can I check whether the recognised text matches the original?
The Lens is our tool for full transparency. With one click on any word in the digital text, a magnifier opens showing the exact excerpt from the original scan or photo. This allows you to clarify doubtful spots in seconds - without having to search through the original document manually.
- How does LexLogik handle poor image quality or phone photos?
Yes. LexLogik is designed to automatically correct skewed, underexposed or pixelated phone photos. Perspective, exposure and image structure are optimised before text recognition - ensuring reliable results even with difficult source material, including IBANs, section references or handwritten notes.
Workflow & integration
- In what format do I receive my processed documents?
LexLogik exports searchable PDFs with a fully embedded text layer.
- Can I integrate LexLogik with my existing case management or document management system?
Because LexLogik delivers searchable PDFs in a standard format, results drop straight into the practice and document management systems used by UK firms - for example Clio, LEAP, Actionstep, SOS Connect, Osprey, Quill or LawBase on the practice management side, and iManage, NetDocuments or SharePoint for document management. Our compressed, court-bundle-ready PDFs are sized for CE-File, the MyHMCTS portal and standard email gateways. For larger firms, the Enterprise package adds a dedicated API for direct system integration.
- Which licence is right for my firm?
The Counsel licence is built for sole practitioners and specialist boutiques that need an independent, high-end solution. The Professional licence adds higher matter volumes and team collaboration - well suited to high-street firms and mid-market practices. For City firms, in-house legal teams or any setup with bespoke security requirements, the Enterprise model offers a dedicated server instance and a tailored DPA.
Trial & terms
- Is the 10-day trial really no-obligation?
Yes. You get 10 days of unrestricted access to all features of our Professional licence so each fee earner can stress-test precision on real matters. No credit card is required and there are no hidden fees. After the ten days end, trial access stops automatically - there is no auto-renewal into a paid plan. You can then decide at your leisure whether to take out a paid licence.
- Do you offer onboarding support?
Yes. The software is designed so that no training is required - but we offer a personal introduction for every package if you would like one. We help you integrate LexLogik into your existing workflow.
